We are very conscious of the directions the prime lamb industry is heading and use only those sires that will build a strong genetic base to ensure we are not disadvantaged in years to come. With the increasing use of red meat yield in carcase grading, muscling and length through the loin and hindquarter are the key determinants for meat yield and ultimately higher returns per carcase. We are also aware of the management side of lamb production and pay particular attention to fertility, ease of lambing and clean points. More lambs to weaning leads to more efficient production and higher returns for producers. Lamb trials over many years have demonstrated that our emphasis on commercial attributes of the sires we use is resulting in superior returns for commercial clients with a majority proving second to none results for profitability and meat yield. DNA testing is showing that not only do our sires have the commercial traits that provide higher profitability but have outstanding eating quality traits such as elevated levels of intra muscular fat and are significantly more tender than the average terminal sires. Almost every ram used in the stud has had semen collected and stored for future use. Semen has passed the highest standards of assessment, is disease tested and is guaranteed to be of the highest quality. Semen from almost all the rams listed in the Sires List is available for sale. There are rams that have minimum purchase requirements however packages from a number of different sires can be made up with any amount you require from individual sires.
